honeydip is an underground Japanese alternative rock band that first formed in 1996. They are known for their rich, atmospheric sound which generally has a shoegaze-center to it. honeydip changed their name to Sugarcoat in late 2002, but eventually ended up splitting all together in 2004 due to personal reasons with 2 of the members Ichihara Eiji and Masato Hayashi. Their official statement about splitting up can be found here, Some of the members of honeydip/Sugarcoat went on to form The Tron.
