Sam Burton is a Palestinian-American songwriter born and raised in Salt Lake City, now based in Los Angeles. Burton taught himself to play guitar as a teenager, sneaking practice sessions on his stepfather's off-limits guitar. Inspired by the Beach Boys and Velvet Underground, he played in a shoegaze band before relocating to Los Angeles and developing a more acoustic folk-based approach that included ambient, sometimes psychedelic textures and introspective lyricism.
